    8 Noches Dulces

    Fuímos a come en Praga, Tacos, Menudo y Tupidos, Tacos Güero, KFC, Nutri-algo, La Torta, ChiriHiri, y Chinese food.

    Fuímos a las pulas varias veces, Hawaii,

    Should I buy HBlogger?
    Is anybody using this software to post to LiveJournal? How do you like it? Is it worth paying for? Can you post comments on friend's pages with it?

    I have a Palm VX and I frequently connect to internet via Wifi or Bt (shared internet connection of my GPRS mobile phone). I'd be a lot more active on on LJ if I could post when away from my PC.

    Are there other Palm OS LJ clients that work well?

    Thanks in advance.

    Argh! What can I do?
    How can I improve the reliability of my connections? I am finding the UX50 constantly complains that there is no such host when trying to update LJ, and likewise Netfront returns the ever helpful error complaining that there is a network configuration error. I have managed to make posts with hBlogger, but this evening it has refused to connect even with three resets.

    Hblogger? Hnothing!
    I have to admit, I'm very frustrated. First, I missed the beta testing phase for the Hblogger. Then, I can't get the free version to load for me. THEN, I purchase the full version online and I get no user key sent to me. THEN I write an email to support two weeks later and still haven't even gotten a response three business days after that.

    I'm beginning to think Hblogger isn't going to work for me.

    Hblogger 2.0
    I am glad to announce release 2.0 of Hblogger.
    As promised, we are going to grant several free licenses to most active beta testers. If you are one of them, you will receive email from us today.

    List of user-visible changes since version 1.0:

    * Memory usage optimized (allows to use hblogger with more weblogs)
    * Treo 300 supported
    * Support for more services, such as LiveJournal, UJournal, DeadJournal, Blurty, NeedlessPanic, Plogs, Caledia, GreatestJournal, Blogger, MovableType, TypePad, Weblogs
    * Better error reporting
    * Image upload. Now you can include images in your post. You can use files on external memory cards and images from Treo 600 image database.
    * User can now specify optional image size attributes in the image upload dialogue.
    * Separate menu items for inclusion of links to external and local images.
    * Non-ASCII text now could be used in "mood" and "music" fields (for LiveJournal accounts only).
    * Improved compatibility with variety of FTP servers.
    * We do not use UTF-8 for Blogger.com and MovableType. Both these services do not currenlty correctly support UTF-8. Passing raw posting text allows at least to use accented French and some other national characters.
    * Better error reporting for network operations failures.
    * UI brush-up.
    * Other various minor fixes and improvements.
    * "UserPic" support for LiveJornal accounts.
    * 5-way navigation for Treo 600.
    * Easy way to add HTML and LiveJournal tags in your post.

    Image uploads: the goalposts have moved
    See: http://www.livejournal.com/community/paidmembers/14156.html

    There doesn't currently appear to be an FTP option; the only "documentation" on the custom upload protocol is the perl client at http://pics.livejournal.com/site/clients?file=fotoup.pl

    FTP syntax
    Having just debugged the FTP syntax in hblogger, the following may be useful to other testers:

    The correct syntax for the FTP upload string in hblogger2b2 is:

    FTP://server.domain/absolute/path/

    This is not (afaik) a standard URN, and nor will it work in MSIE or Mozilla. Standard FTP URNs tend to use relative paths, and this is what you're more likely to be given by your ISP or sysadmin.

    If you're uploading to a unix system (which many FTP servers are) your FTP upload string will probably be similar to:

    FTP://ftp.isp.com/home/yourusername/your/directory

    In IE this would generally be seen as

    ftp://ftp.isp.com/your/directory

    as IE uses relative paths.

    Mozilla would generally see it at

    ftp://username@ftp.isp.com/your/directory
    or
    ftp://username@ftp.isp.com//home/yourusername/your/directory

    HTH

    PS: you might also need to increase the network timeout. Mine needs to be 30 secs, not 10.

    FTP login? (2.0b2)
    I've been trying to upload an image in a post from a Treo 600 but can't debug the result of the FTP connection attempt. I've got a path of FTP://sentinel3.phase.org/domains/gene/treopix/ as per standard URL syntax, and set the username and password appropriately, but I just get an "Error communicating with server" when I try and send the image; the "Details" button simply tells me:
    FTP proc: ftp_connect:login

    What's failing? TCP connection? Username? Password? I can't tell from this information.

    The FTP server *is* up and running on that address - I tested it from a remote host while trying to send from the Treo.

    Also, using the syntax specified in the "Image Upload FTP server" dialogue (which appears wrong to me) of FTP://sentinel3.phase.org://home/wechsler/domains/gene/treopix/ or (as a guess) FTP://sentinel3.phase.org:21//home/wechsler/domains/gene/treopix/ gives me an error of
    FTP proc:
    ftp_connect::quickConnect
    Net Error:No such host
    netcode=4662

    Also, the "Upload image" menu item doesn't appear to ask you which image to upload, and inserts an <img> tag in place of the <img_upload> tag I'd assume it should use for image upload.

    Finally as regards images, the img upload tag, hidden under the HTML pulldown, is hard to find.

    As another issue, the defaults for journal and userpic aren't ideal - surely the default should be the user's journal and their default userpic? Instead it's the alphabetically first community they can post to, and the specified default userpic.

    * Non-ASCII text now could be used in "mood" and "music" fields (for LiveJournal accounts only)
    * Improved compatibility with variety of FTP servers.

    hblogger 2.0 - image upload HOWTO
    We got following question from one of our users:

    I'm currently trying to understand how to use this - I have an FTP site
    I use for images which is exposed by a URL. What do I need to do to
    configure hblogger to use this?

    The ftp site is of the form ftp://ftpserver/web/images, and the
    resulting URL is http://webserver/~user/images.

    There are two ways to configure image upload in HBlogger 2.0b.

    First way is to set up default upload preferences (can be accessed in menu Options->
    Preferences). Second way is to config upload when adding image
    upload tag () in post (can be accessed in Actions->Upload image).

    It is more convenient of course to set up default upload preferences
    and, if necessary, to update parameters when adding upload image tag
    () in post text.

    Upload image parameters contain the following:

    1. Upload base URL (i.e. FTP path where images will be uploaded).
    You can put here smth like ftp://ftpserver/web/images.

    Upload URL ftp://ftpserver/web/images means that uploaded
    file yourimagefilename.jpg will be stored in
    ftp://ftpserver/web/images/yourimagefilename_randomnumber.jpg

    2. Target base URL. Resulting HTTP URL prefix.
    You can just put here smth like http://webserver/~user/images

    3. Login. FTP account login.
    4. Password. FTP account password.

    A Question on Internet connections
    Hiya! Ok, so I have a quick question on hblogger I'm hoping works in my favour. ^_^

    I have an older Palm IIIx to which actual Internet access is but a dream for it. I don't do a lot with it, but would just adore being able to use it to blog in my LJ while at work (They let me use my Palm because, well, they have no idea games are on it lol).

    So I'm wondering if I'd be able to use this program and have it send when I synch my Palm instead of sending over wireless?

    Thank you for your time! ^_^

    *crash*
    Can I suggest that the warning about deleting 0.1b before installing 0.2b be made rather clearer? I didn't do that, and launching 0.2b caused my treo 600 to reboot until I deleted the app and reinstalled.
